September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month!

Darlings,

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness month and as I just celebrated my 11th year of wellness from uterine cancer, this month is especially important as Cancer Schmancer continues its work toward saving lives through prevention and early detection. I’m forever grateful that I am able to share my story and help women like me; who are too scared or too intimidated to take charge of their health.

10 Ways to Help Prevent Cancer... (#137)

Scientists still don't really know what causes cancer.  But research has shown that eating certain healthy foods and maintaining certain healthy habits can dramatically lower your cancer risk.  This is no guarantee of course but every little bit helps, right?!

BLOG: Warning Signs for Ovarian Cancer

Twitter name @ActivityRocket just sent me a message saying that I had to read this month's Prevention magazine.  There's a GREAT article called "Is It Just Bloating OR CANCER?  Warning Signs Your Doctor May Miss".  It's about ovarian cancer.

BLOG: Do You Know a Dr. Schmuck?

If you've been reading the CancerHawk blog, (http://www.cancerhawk.com/)  you know that I refer to our first Oncologist as Dr. Schmuck.  People are asking me who is Dr. Schmuck?

Here's my reply:

I think the question is better phrased as "WHAT is a Dr. Schmuck"' rather than "WHO is Dr. Schmuck?"

BLOG: Mountains, Molehills, & Mammograms

Over the last 10 years, as I journeyed through my thirties, so many ‘marvelous’ things have happened. Grey hair, my metabolism changing from ‘not so great to begin with’ to ‘that of a bag of rocks’, the constant, and I mean constant, ticking of my biological clock (if you listen closely you can probably hear it right now) and now that I have turned 40- my first mammogram.

US needs safer cosmetics!

June 2011

My dear friends,

This time last year, when I came to Capitol Hill, I met with some of the most powerful men and women in America. I’ve become a familiar face in Washington in recent years, because I feel like I got famous, I got cancer, and I lived to talk about it. So I’m using my voice (it is one of a kind) as an advocate.

I'm BAAAACK!

My dear friends,

I'm jumping out of my shoes and ya want to know why?!  June 15th, I'm back on TV, baby! I will be starring in a new TV Land sitcom called "Happily Divorced" which is inspired by my true story, but not your classic love tale!

As I continue the next step of my journey, I hope you will continue along with me and tune in!  Here's a little sneak peak!  Cheers to taking care of yourself, flying without a net and embarking on exciting new adventures!

Be well,
Fran xo
