Mary Amons of the Real Housewives of D.C., who is in the process of writing a cookbook and possibly starting a cooking show, hosted a party for awareness and fundraising for Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Movement this past Thursday.
You may only know Fran Drescher from her character in The Nanny, but she is also the President and Visionary of the Cancer Schmancer Movement, which focuses on early detection as a cure for cancers.
“We are not the research and science, but our partners are. So for us, we use Fran’s celebrity to really look at what is in your day to day products,” said Laurie Meadoff, the Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Schmancer, which is based in New York City.
Mary Amons invited some of “D.C.’s finest fashionista ladies” to do a little shopping, learn about different non-profits, sip wine and enjoy food, including the unforgettable and delicious Whoopsie Pies.
“Twenty five percent of sales tonight will go to Labels for Love and I’m going to write a nice big fat check to Cancer Schmancer,” said Amons.
