Fran Drescher eyeing the Senate?
Fran Drescher has played many parts on television and in films, but she wouldn’t be opposed to taking on a different kind of role — as a politician.
The star of “The Nanny” tells ITK, “I do get encouraged a lot to run for an elected office, and I especially love the Senate.”
While the actress, 55, wouldn’t reveal who has urged her to throw her hat into the political arena, she did disclose, “I’ve had persuasion from across the party lines, actually. People that would cross over because they like hearing the way I talk, as ironic as that sounds,” she said in her signature New Yawk accent.
Drescher, a Hillary Clinton supporter, eyed the New York Democrat’s Senate seat back in 2008 when the former first lady made her White House run, but ultimately decided against it. Saying as a uterine cancer survivor that plane rides take a lot out of her, the Hollywood entertainer opined, “Sometimes I think, well, would I run in New York? Because then I wouldn’t have to fly so much.”
