Roses are Red, Lipstick (Still!) Has Lead
Dear all,
As we all know, taking care of our bodies is essential to living long and healthy lives. What many of us forget is what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in them. Our skin is a living, breathing organ and many cosmetics out on the store shelves have toxins and carcinogens in their ingredients. What women are putting on their outsides to look beautiful is killing them on the inside! Our friends at the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics are dedicated to ensuring the health of consumers and workers by requiring the personal care products industry to phase out the use of chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects and other serious health concerns, and replace them with safer alternatives.
Can you believe this? In 2009, it's legal to put chemicals known to cause cancer into products you can buy in your local beauty store. We know what the dangerous chemicals are, and we have members of Congress who agree with us that they don't belong anywhere near products we use for ourselves or for our children. We will win this fight with your help!
I urge you to learn more about the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and check out their latest release about lead in lipstick. Take control of your body, both inside and out!
