4 Tips Post 4th For Getting Back on Track

I hope everyone had a healthy and happy 4th of July!  I would love to hear how you were a little more conscious celebrating this year. Did you get that workout in?  Were you mindful of your eating?  If not, now is a great time to get back on track after an acidic weekend.

Having my own studio I was fortunate enough to invite my clients in for an extra special burst training class.  These high intensity time efficient sessions leave you burning more calories for a longer period of time!  After class they slapped on my favorite Coola Organic Sunscreen coupled with a fresh raw juice in there hand and they were ready to start their day.  Research shows that if you start your day off healthy, you are more likely to make healthier decisions throughout the day.

Here are 4 Tips to Get You Back on Track:

1.  If you fail to plan, then plan to fail.  Sunday is usually my day to prep my food for the week.  The grocery shopping doesn't stop when I get home.  I BBQ my organic chicken, get all my veggies ready for juicing, hard boil my free-range eggs, and stock up on my essentials such as Hemp milk and almonds. Having great nutrition on hand makes it easy to stay fueled up so I can be at my best.

2.  Start your day with a Green Detox Drink.  Green juices are stabilizing and calming.  They have a relaxing and centering effect.  If you want a quick pick-me-up, add a carrot to it. But for long term energy, take a green juice.  If you are restless or feeling mentally scattered (acidic), drink green.  Ingredients like lemon, ginger, garlic and cayenne can also be added.  It is the closest thing to a natural cocktail.  In fact, both have bar tenders who mix drinks according to the customers preferences.  The only difference is, one detoxifies your liver while the other hardens it.  For my favorite juice I use cucumber and celery as the base and add beet, carrot, green apple, spinach, parsley, and lemon.  This makes me feel so much better than pouring acidic coffee into my body first thing in the morning.

3.  Get Moving.  Summer is the best time of year to take your workouts, or playtime as I like to call it, outside.  Even if you think you can't get the same workout outside of the gym it's time away from potential calories.  Try a new activity like Stand Up Paddling, rollerblading (that's the Canadian in me), or hiking.  You may just surprise yourself on how much fun you have and feel some muscles you didn't know were there.

4.  Self Acceptance is the Pre-requisite for Change.  Acceptance does not imply self-delusion.  It involves coming to terms with what is.  When you accept yourself you simply say "This is how I am right now.  I don't know what the future will bring.  I do know that if I want to change, I must first feel as comfortable as I can with myself in the present".  Developing an acceptance of your need to eat and of your body as it exists is crucial to resolving any issues you may have with food.

I'd love to hear how you're making positive changes this summer.
