Declutter, Destress, Detox Your Home
Is it time for you to Get Organized? Are you looking to get rid of the clutter in your home and in your life?
If your answer is "YES!" you’ve come to the right place. We all need to reduce the stress in our lives and create a healthy life style. One of the ways to reduce stress is to get rid of the clutter that surrounds us.
Start by looking around your home and decide on a space that needs de-cluttering. I always recommend to start small ... you don’t want to get overwhelmed. After deciding on where you want to get started, make a commitment to yourself and set a time frame to complete the task.
Let's say you are going to start with your medicine cabinet, which is the most important cabinet in your bathroom. Its spot right over the sink makes it the best place to store essential items, from toothpaste to important prescriptions, that you and your family need at your fingertips everyday.
- Start by removing everything from your medicine cabinet. Discard expired prescriptions and products you and other household members never use. Put duplicate and surplus items like extra boxes of cotton swabs and bandages in a pile for alternate storage.
- Divide the remaining items into categories: medications, oral hygiene, first aid, shaving equipment. If the space in your cabinet is limited, restrict the contents to toiletries that need to be kept near the sink. Put cotton swabs, balls and other small objects into small jars or canisters.
- Clean the interior of the cabinet, as well as the door, with soap and water.
- Install any accessories you’ve chosen under the shelves or on the back of the door. If necessary, adjust the height of the shelves to accommodate containers of varying sizes
- Keep like items together, designate areas for each category: oral hygiene, shaving equipment; over the counter medications.
Now that you completed that task ... stand back and take a look. Doesn’t that feel fabulous? Ready to move on to the next space…
Until next time … Keep it Simple!
