For Approximately 5 to 10 percent of these women, their cancers were handed down from generation to generation. They have the hereditary form of the disease. Changes, called mutations, in their genes made them at extreme risk for developing both breast and ovarian cancer. Breast and ovarian cancer maybe linked together.
