Women more skin savy than men when it comes to skin cancer prevention

Skin Cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the U.S. And also the most treatable.

According to a new study, women lead the way in getting screened for Melanoma. A study in the "Archives of Dermatology" found that 60% of those asking doctors to be checked for skin cancer were women.

Personal and family medical histories and worries over too much exposure to sunlight-- motivated them to be proactive.

Men on the other hand were more likely to ask for screening only if they'd already been diagnosed with skin cancer.

The study finds that men need to be better informed about screening since men age 50 and older are at the highest risk.
